A mustard seed is about 1-2 mm in diameter. It can be compared to the size of a flea, the diameter of a pin head, a tiny pebble, or a grain of salt. You easily disregard objects this size on a daily basis.
But not when the flea bites your leg.
Not when that pebble is found inside your shoe.
Not when that pin pricks you on the finger.
What can easily be disregarded and overlooked can quickly become much more significant.
Child, you forget my words:
“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
What is faith? It’s not a feeling. It’s an action. It’s trusting that what I say is truth, even when you don’t feel like it. I know you’re hurting. I know you’re tired, but you must remember that your greatest seasons of growth happen in the darkest times of your life. What you’re walking through is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to stop, pick up the mustard seed and plant it. After you plant it, you’re going to have to keep coming back to it daily, watering it, giving it what it needs to grow.
People break promises, but I don’t. I promise that if you will remember to water that seed daily even when you don’t feel like it, like your seed, you will experience growth. You will become stronger. So strong that you will move mountains.
Persistence. Your faith is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Don’t get impatient. Trust in my timing.
To be considered a mountain, a landform must reach a height of about 1,000 ft. (or 300 m). It would take more than 300,000 mustard seeds to reach the top of the smallest mountain. I’m only asking that your faith be the size of one seed.
Don’t question my goodness.
Don’t doubt my promises.
Don’t mope. Don’t feel sorry for yourself.
Trust me. I’m bigger than any mountain.
